Airbnb Payouts: When Hosts Get Paid, Delays & Reconciliation
Share
Airbnb payouts have two clocks: when Airbnb releases the payout and how long your payout provider takes to deliver the money. A host can see a payout marked as released and still wait for the bank, card, PayPal, wire service, or other provider to finish processing it.
Airbnb’s current guidance says timing can also vary by reservation type, length of stay, payout schedule, payout method, and whether you are a new host.

When does Airbnb usually release a payout?
For shorter home stays, Airbnb generally describes payouts as being released around 24 hours after the guest checks in, subject to account and reservation conditions. Monthly stays, new hosts, reviewed transactions, and other situations can follow different timing.
The safest place to confirm a specific reservation is the Earnings dashboard rather than a generic timing estimate.
Release time is not arrival time
Once Airbnb releases a payout, the payment provider still has to process it. Airbnb currently lists typical processing times such as:
- Fast Pay: 30 minutes or less after release in eligible regions;
- Pay to card: 30 minutes or less in eligible regions;
- Payoneer Prepaid Debit Mastercard: within 24 hours;
- PayPal: within one business day;
- Western Union: about one business day depending on region;
- ACH direct deposit: about 3 business days in the U.S. and Puerto Rico;
- international wire: about 3–7 business days;
- bank account: about 3–5 business days.
These are Airbnb’s typical timeframes, not guarantees.
Weekends and holidays can delay bank-based payouts
Traditional banking systems may not process transfers on weekends or bank holidays. Airbnb says those payments may continue on the next business day. Some faster payout methods can process outside normal banking days.
New hosts may wait longer
Airbnb can apply different payout timing to new hosts while it establishes account history and completes checks. Do not build a cash-flow plan that assumes your first reservations will settle exactly like a long-established account.
Monthly stays follow different timing
For reservations of 28 nights or more, Airbnb uses monthly-stay payout logic rather than treating the entire reservation like a short stay. The Earnings dashboard should show scheduled payout information for the specific reservation.
Payouts can be reviewed
Airbnb says transactions can be reviewed for fraud prevention and regulatory compliance. Its current help page states that a review can delay funds up to 45 days after guest check-in, pause them, or in rare cases remove them from the account while additional verification is requested.
If a payout is unexpectedly delayed, check the Earnings dashboard and any account-verification requests before assuming the payment is lost.
Your payout can be smaller than expected
Common reasons include:
- Airbnb host service fee;
- co-host payout;
- refund or partial refund;
- prior reservation adjustment;
- currency conversion;
- withholding or tax-related adjustment where applicable;
- payout-method fees charged by a provider.
Airbnb’s payout formula
Airbnb’s help center summarizes payout calculation as your nightly price plus optional host charges, minus the host service fee and co-host payouts, with other adjustments where applicable.
See Airbnb Fees for Hosts for the fee side of the calculation.
Do not reconcile from the bank account alone
A single Airbnb bank deposit can sometimes combine or reflect several reservation events. The bank tells you what arrived. The Airbnb earnings detail tells you which reservations, fees, refunds, or adjustments produced that amount.
Keep both.
Monthly payout reconciliation process
- Export or review Airbnb earnings for the month.
- List each reservation and gross booking activity.
- Record Airbnb service fees separately.
- Record cleaning and other host-set charges separately where useful.
- Record refunds and adjustments.
- Record co-host payouts.
- Match each released payout to the bank or payout account.
- Investigate unmatched amounts.
- File the supporting report with monthly records.
Keep payout method details current
An expired card, changed bank account, incomplete verification, or pending payout method can interrupt payment. Airbnb recommends adding and verifying a payout method before you need it.
If you manage several properties, keep the accounting destination consistent enough that payouts can be traced back to each property.
Minimum payout settings can combine transfers
Airbnb allows some hosts to set a minimum payout amount. That can reduce transfer frequency or provider fees, but it also means an expected small payout may remain pending until the threshold is reached.
Co-host payouts should be reconciled separately
Airbnb says co-host payouts for home reservations are usually released at the same time as host payouts. Record the co-host share as its own management/operating expense rather than treating the reduced bank deposit as unexplained missing revenue.

Where the Property Management Binder fits
The Property Management Binder does not replace accounting software or the Airbnb Earnings dashboard. It helps organize the property records that explain many operating costs behind the payout: cleaning, maintenance, vendors, inventory, inspections, and incident documentation.

Frequently asked questions
How long does an Airbnb payout take?
Airbnb release timing and provider processing time are separate. Shorter home stays are commonly released around 24 hours after check-in, but the actual arrival depends on payout method, reservation type, account status, and other factors.
Why is my Airbnb payout delayed?
Possible reasons include payout-method processing, weekends or holidays, new-host timing, account review, identity verification, minimum payout settings, or other account issues.
Where can I see payout status?
Airbnb directs hosts to the Earnings dashboard for upcoming, released, and paid payout details.
